Hide some indexed locations from Folders panel

Post by koolestani »

Is there a way to hide certain indexed locations from the
Folders
panel that appears on the left side when
View > Folders
is checked? I want them to still be indexed (added under
Tools > Options > Folders
) just not for them to be visible in the Folders panel.

If not, can this be considered a feature request? I guess the logical place for this option to exist would be under
Tools > Options > Folders
itself.

Thanks :D

I have put on my TODO list to apply result omissions to the folder sidebar.

I will consider a separate option to hide folders.

Thank you for the suggestion.

No worries! I'll look forward to a version with this implemented.

Result omissions are now applied to the folder sidebar in Everything 1.5.0.1405a.

However, please note: Adding or removing result omissions will not update the folders sidebar list immediately.
Please collapse and re-expand the parent to update result omissions.

Very helpful feature! Thank you for adding this functionality.

I have many mapped network drives (backups and the like) that I historically dealt with by adding and removing them from the index so they didn't clutter the interface.

I added the drive letters as folders to Result Omissions and, as expected, the new feature hides the folders in the drives. But it doesn't hide the drives themselves from the folder pane. Is there a way to list these in the Organize Result Omissions that would get the drives to disappear from folder sidebar?

If not, please consider this a feature request.

And since this is my first post (ridiculously longtime user/lurker) let me say... this product has always been awesome and I appreciate your constant advances while retaining the core usefulness/simplicity. Good work!

I can hide omitted roots, but I cannot do it dynamically in Everything 1.5.

The next update will hide omitted roots.
If you toggle result omissions, you will need to close and reopen the window to refresh the folder sidebar listing.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Everything 1.5.0.1408a adds support for omitting roots and the folder sidebar is now updated dynamically when changing your result omissions.

I thought this would solve using no-omit: or noomit: when using in a filter. Any plans on considering this?
