I migrated from 1.5a to 1.5b following the instructions here: viewtopic.php?t=17663
it all seems to work just fine, except Everything itself will not launch when I restart Windows 11, I have to manually open it. "Start Everything on system startup", and "Everything Service", are both checked in options.
Any ideas?
Everything 1.5b upgraded from 1.5a, no longer starts at boot on Windows 11

Please check if Everything is disabled in the Task Manager on the Startup tab:
- In the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + ESC), click the Startup tab.
- Select Everything and change the status to Enabled.

Is Tools -> Options -> Everything -> "Start Everything on system startup" dash [-] checked? or tick [✓] checked?
Run on system startup calls:
With Everything closed, please try running this manually and see if you see the expected results.
Everything should show in the taskbar notification area.
It's normal for no window to show. -are you expecting an Everything window to show on startup?
Run on system startup calls:
Everything.exe -startupWith Everything closed, please try running this manually and see if you see the expected results.

It's tick checked, fully enabled.void wrote: Wed Sep 16, 2026 1:58 am Is Tools -> Options -> Everything -> "Start Everything on system startup" dash [-] checked? or tick [✓] checked?

How exactly do you run this manually? I opened a powershell terminal window inside C:\Program Files\Everything, and ran that command; it asked me to do .\Everything.exe startup instead, which worked. Is that how you meant it? That put the icon back in the taskbar and allowed my shortcut (alt+f) to work.
On Windows boot, there's no icon in the task bar, and my keyboard shortcut alt+f doesn't work. It did on 1.5a. It seems Everything isn't properly starting on boot.

Thanks for the information.
-launching Everything manually is working as expected.
Is Everything running as administrator?
-Is [Administrator] shown in the window title bar?
-Windows will not launch startup applications if they are set to run as administrator.
Please make sure Everything is running as a standard user:

This worked. But... I migrated settings when upgrading to 1.5b, and and it was launching at startup before. Did something change with Everything 1.5b?void wrote: Wed Sep 16, 2026 6:33 am Thanks for the information.

It could have been set for the old Everything 1.4 version?
Did you ever have Everything 1.4 installed?
Everything 1.5a uses a completely different installation folder / program location.

Strange.
Everything doesn't set the compatibility run as administrator flag.
This is controlled by Windows.
I am not sure why the compatibility run as administrator flag was set.
