Stuck in "Offline disk"

Post by cosmito »

I have drive mounts set up in folder indexes. One of them was offline on Windows start then it became online.
In Index -> Rescan it appears as "Offline disk". Searching and rescanning works. Restarted Everything 3 times (service).
Checked the GUID in the ini, it matches the one from Windows mountvol command.
Why is this happening and how can I update Everything to see it normally?

Everything doesn't track Tools -> Options -> Folders as online/offline.

Please check if this volume is listed under Tools -> Options -> FAT.
Select any Offline disks and click Remove.
Re-add them under Tools -> Options -> Folders.

What is your F: drive?

What is shown in Everything under Tools -> Debug -> Statistics -> Folder Index (for your F: drive)
Specifically the drive type.

Everything will show the F: drive as Offline under the Index -> Rescan menu if the drive type is "Unknown" in the stats window.

As mentioned, F:\ is a NTFS folder index, just like all the others from the screenshot

Code: Select all

Folder Index
Path:	F:
Drive type:	Unknown
Label:
Index number:	4
Date indexed:	04/11/2025 03:33
Out of date:	No
Online:	Yes
Disk device index:	18
Multithreaded:	Separate device thread
Folder count:	18,567
File count:	1,733,762
Last rescan date:	24/04/2026 13:11
Last rescan successful:	Yes
Last successful rescan date:	24/04/2026 13:11
Last successful rescan duration:	00:00:13.955
Next scheduled rescan date:	24/04/2026 19:11

Thank you for the statistics.
Everything is seeing the drive as unknown, so shows it as offline.

Everything 1.5.0.1409a will now treat DRIVE_UNKNOWN as online and DRIVE_NO_ROOT_DIR as offline.

Does the issue persist with this version?

Was not able to test the specific situation with the new version, after a reboot it shows normal again with version 1.5.0.1403. I would have to cause again the conditions that led to the reporting of the NTFS folder index as "Offline disk", then update to the new version 1409 then re-check. This would be tricky to reproduce as it was not a normal situation.
