Manual override for excluded directories?

Post by Pseudoryx »

Learning what I can/cannot do with the exclusion list. When a directory/folder is excluded, does Everything still index it and hide the result, or does it stop indexing altogether? Is there a command that I could use to temporarily force Everything to search in those excluded directories as well?

Excluded files/folders are not indexed.

Everything 1.5 will have result omissions.

Omitted files/folders are hidden from your search results.
Everything will continue to monitor changes to omitted files/folders.

Omitted files/folders can be toggled instantly.

Thank you. I will experiment with both for the time being, as result omission is not recognized by some command launchers (while exclusion is). Can both options be toggled with hotkeys?

To bind a keyboard shortcut to toggle result omissions:

  • To the right of Show commands containing, type in:
    omission
  • Select Index | Enable Result Omissions.
  • Click Add....
  • Press a new keyboard shortcut (eg: Ctrl + Backspace) and click OK.
  • Click OK.

Thank you. So I take it that the only option to enable/disable exclusion is Options -> Indexes -> Exclude -> Enable exclude list, without an option to toggle the exclusion list via hotkey?

The Tools -> Options -> Exclude -> Enable exclude list cannot be toggled from a keyboard shortcut.

Tools -> Options -> Exclude -> Enable exclude list is designed to be set once.
