Index Stablebit pools?
Index Stablebit pools?
Hi there.
Is Everything not able to index a Stablebit pool? (stablebit . com)
In Options > NTFS I can see the drive, but the "Enable USN Journal" is greyed out.
Hope you can help what to do, i really can't work proper without your program!

Re: Index Stablebit pools?
Please try adding your Stablebit pool as a folder index:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Folders tab.
- Click Add....
- Select your stablebit drive and click OK.
- Click OK.
Re: Index Stablebit pools?
Thanx!! It works!
But how is it that the program can see the NTFS with T: letter (letter of the pool), but not index it?

Re: Index Stablebit pools?
Stablebit reports as an NTFS volume but is not a true NTFS volume.
There's no Master File Table and no USN Journal.
This means Everything can't quickly build an index or keep an index always up-to-date.
Folder indexing will be a little slower for the initial index and require scheduled rescans to keep up-to-date.

ok, thank you for quick response!
Re: Index Stablebit pools?
For this use case (mounting DrivePool drives as folders), is it useful to raise the buffer size value and if yes, which would be the upper limit and what are the advantages and disadvantages?

I think your wording is wrong.cosmito wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 4:03 pm For this use case (mounting DrivePool drives as folders), is it useful to raise the buffer size value and if yes, which would be the upper limit and what are the advantages and disadvantages?
Folder indexing doesn't mount drives.
It indexes all sorts of non-NTFS volumes,
Re: Index Stablebit pools?
So I've previously used this method for indexing my drivepools (viewtopic.php?t=11231) but it began giving me issues, first not updating at all and then - upon me trying to fix it - not indexing at all.
So I just tried adding the drivepool drive as a folder and it seems to work well, also finding new files instantly. Does that mean that "attempt to monitor changes" is working like it should and that the rescan function can be disabled?

Re: Index Stablebit pools?
What version of Everything?
Everything 1.5.0.1397a improves monitoring changes to folders.
It's still not perfect, changes can be missed.
I recommend scheduling a daily rescan (the default), or at least a weekly rescan.

Re: Index Stablebit pools?
With my previous setup I was on 1.5 but now I went back to stable. I will try with at least weekly scan, doesn't take too long anyway. Thanksvoid wrote: Sat Sep 20, 2025 10:52 pm What version of Everything?

EDIT: Curious - if a scan schedule is missed, will it just run the scan next time Everything is running?
Re: Index Stablebit pools?
Yes, the next time you run Everything, any missed scheduled rescans will be started.Curious - if a scan schedule is missed, will it just run the scan next time Everything is running
This behavior can be controlled with the Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> folder_update_rescan_asap setting.
