I don't know how I did that in the old version, and I can't find anything that suggests it in 1.5a. Unless it's in Advanced, which didn't exist before. I can barely see anything that's not in dark coloration, so I'm afraid there are just too many Advanced options to plausibly find this, if it's even there.
I do have Everything set to run in the background and close to system tray, so that's not the problem. But unlike the old version, when you bring it up from the tray again, any results are gone.
Retain search results when closing to system tray
Re: Retain search results when closing to system tray
Tools -> Options -> Home -> Search -> (Use last value)
Re: Retain search results when closing to system tray
Thanks, that worked.
It might have been a while before I noticed that one. It was on Custom for some reason (the only one on that screen), even though it's unclear what Custom means. It's also on Custom in the old version.

An alternative option:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> hide_on_close = true
Instead of closing the window, hide it temporarily.
When a new search window is requested this window is made visible instead.
Useful for keeping extended file information cached.
