Exclude a folder from search results by right-click

Post by leihu »

Hi there,

I just started using Everything and I find it really amazing. Thank you very much for this great software.

I have one suggestion:

It would be very useful if, in the results list, when I right-click on a folder name inside a full path, I could then click an "Exclude" menu item to exclude everything under that folder from the current results.

For example, if a result path is C:\Users\John\Documents\Work\Project1, I could right-click on Documents and choose "Exclude this folder", and then Everything would remove all results under that folder.

This would be similar to what Sysinternals Process Monitor allows, where you can quickly exclude something with a simple right-click action.

I believe this feature would be extremely useful for many users.

Thanks again for your excellent work!

Thank you for your feedback leuhu,

Everything 1.5 will have omit results.

Enable result omissions from the Index menu.
Right click a file or folder and click Omit.

For example, if a result path is C:\Users\John\Documents\Work\Project1, I could right-click on Documents and choose "Exclude this folder", and then Everything would remove all results under that folder.
Right click in the path column and under the Project1 submenu, then under the Documents submenu, click Omit.

Result omissions can be toggled instantly.
Thank you for the suggestions.
