Preview works for file shortcuts, but not for the files themselves.

It seems to have happened after I installed an app called Quick Look from the Microsoft Store, but even after I deleted it, the preview still doesn't work.

No clue, but if you open the /desktop/'j'... (sorry for my poor representation) folder in Windows Explorer, does Windows Explorer show thumbnails for said .png's ?

I'll suppose this is QuickLook?
And assuming it is, seems "4.7" (from MS) is old, with current being (I'm guessing) "4.11" (i.e. 4.1.1).
And if that is so... maybe try putting in "4.11" (4.1.1) & see if that might "fix" things?

And I'm really kind of confused. MS page says, Last updated date 7/21/2025 [is that program update or the date some yahoo made a comment on MS's page], & a Release date 7/18/2017 [& while there were github releases in 2017, I can't imagine...], yet github current release says Dec 6, 2024.

(Why anyone would get anything from a "store" is beyond me.)

Windows Explorer shows thumbnails of these .png files.
But preview still does not work after I installed the latest version Quick Look from GitHub.

Is Microsoft Store that terrible, i don't use it very often.

Accidentally solved the problem..
Turn off the option“Display preview controls in the preview pane”

So glad it's working properly again
