search results don't include partial words

Hi, longtime user, first time post. I recently noticed on one of my computers that I can no longer search for partial words. The results screen does not include matches that it previously did. On my other computer it works the way it has always worked for me. I have compared all settings, and have even copied the INI file from the working computer, but the odd behavior persists. I have clicked the "force rebuild" button on the indexes section. The issue just started earlier this week, and I'm at a loss as to understanding what caused it to change in how it operates. I upgraded to the most recent version as well, but operation continues the same.

I will try to illustrate the issue: Suppose I have a file on my hard drive named "Example instructions for copying settings file.txt".
In the past, I could type into Everything the following string: "exa tructio copyin .txt" (without the quotes)
and it would start showing me matches the instant I hit the very first letter e in the example above, then it would narrow it down with every character I type, and likely there would be only a few matches by the time I was done typing the above. Granted I would really search for something like "example instructions settings file" (without the quotes) but the text above is an example to illustrate how Everything has always worked for me before.

Now, suddenly, if I type "example" (without the quotes)
the file will be in the list of results
but when I type instru the file is not included in the results until I finish typing the complete word instructions
I can't type partial strings or strings that begin in the middle of the word.

It's gotta be something silly ive done, but I would have thought copying the INI file over would have taken it back to the same settings as my laptop anyway. Can someone tell me what dumb thing I'm overlooking here?

Is WHOLEWORD shown in the status bar on the right?
If so, please uncheck Match Whole Words from the Search menu. (or double click the WHOLEWORD text in the statusbar)

thank you! In all this time, I've never noticed that feature. I must have turned it on accidentally maybe with the CTRL key or something.
Where is this setting saved? I copied over the INI file from a different computer. I thought I had closed Everything down when I did that, maybe not.
Regardless, thanks a lot, now back to what I'm used to!

The setting is stored in %APPDATA%\Everything\Everything.ini with the match_whole_word value.

The default value can be set under Tools -> Options -> Home -> Match Whole Words.
