Everything 1.4.1.1026 causes windows 11 to reboot

Long time user of Everything. Recently installed windows 11 and after starting Everything (after indexing) started to type in the search box and windows stalled and then rebooted. This happened multiple times. Uninstalled that version of Everything and installed 1.4.1.1026 from the website - same result - Everything caused windows to reboot.

Had an old installer of Everything 1.2.1.371 - ran that and it seems to be stable. I'll use that in the meantime but if there are more recent back versions available I'd appreciate being able to run the most recent which doesn't crash my system. Ideally would like to be able to solve the rebooting problem and get back to the most up-to-date version.

Please try limiting the number of threads created by Everything:
Copy and paste the following into your Everything search box:
/max_threads=1
Press ENTER in your Everything search box.
If successful, max_threads=1 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.

Does the issue persist?
-If not, it might indicate an issue with your CPU cooling, CPU temps, power supply or other hardware issue.



Setting max_threads to 1 will make your search rather slow.
Increase max_threads to improve performance. For example:

/max_threads=4

Watch for stability and adjust accordingly.
Everything will not create more threads than there is available logical CPUs.
Set max_threads to 0 to use all available logical CPUs.

Moved from W11 black screen crash when searching NAS via SMB

This sounds like a solution to my problem - black screen and reboot in windows 11 - but the fix is for version 5, the one I downloaded from the voidtools site is 4. How do I fix this.

To disable icon shell extensions in Everything 1.4:
Copy and paste the following into your Everything search box:
/icon_shell_extensions=0
Press ENTER in your Everything search box.
If successful, icon_shell_extensions=0 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.
