I have ".lnk" added to the excluded files list so that I don't have to see shortcuts in my searches without having to select a category/filter. However, I sometimes need to search for .lnk files so that I can remove them from folders and extracted archives where they should not be located.
Currently, I have to go into the menu and disable the exclude list, then do the search, then reenable it. I had the thought that if there was a menu option available, I could simplify the process to hitting a keybind, doing a search, then hitting the keybind again, but I suppose this could perhaps be solved in other ways.
Add a keybind to enable/disable the exclude list

Yes, use Filters
You could - for example - change the Everything filter to search for
!ext:lnkAnd create a new filter, ReallyEverything, with an empty searh (just like your original Everything filter)
(Don't forget to remove your exclusions)

Brilliant! Never even realized you could make custom filters. Thanks so much!

You're welcome!
Extra suggestion: enable the Filter bar for easy access: Menu:View > Filters
