Everything and Vista Security

Post by Cedric »

I have run Everything under XP home for quite a long time - it works well.
I now have Vista Ultimate on a new machine, and Everything runs OK on the Admin account. But I run a non-admin account with UAC off most of the time. On typing a search string and hitting enter a message appears at the bottom "Failed to open volume \\.\C: for reading". I have changed directory C:\Program Files\Everything to shared, but that change hasn't cured this problem.
Any suggestions?

"Everything" requires administrative privileges for low level access to volumes.
On your Limited account, you would have to run Everything using "Run as...".
(Note that processes started from Everything would inherit the same privileges, i.e. Admin, as Everything.)
