Hello,
I've encountered a reproducible keyboard input bug in both Everything 1.4 (stable) and Everything 1.5 (latest alpha).
I'm using the built-in Windows Chinese input method, Microsoft Pinyin IME.
Steps to reproduce:
Open Everything with Microsoft Pinyin set to English input mode.
Type some English letters and numbers. Everything works normally.
Switch Microsoft Pinyin to Chinese input mode.
Type some Chinese characters and numbers. Everything still works correctly.
Close the Everything search window.
Reopen the search window.
Try typing numbers using the number keys.
Actual result:
Instead of normal digits (0–9), Everything displays unexpected symbols such as @, ¥, %, and other incorrect characters.
Important findings:
The issue occurs in both Everything 1.4 and 1.5.
Pressing Left Shift does not fix the problem.
Pressing Right Shift immediately fixes the problem.
Once the input mode has been toggled using Shift, number input works correctly in both Chinese and English modes.
The problem only appears after closing and reopening the Everything search window.
Expected result:
Number keys should always produce the correct digits, regardless of the input method state or whether the search window has been reopened.
Possible cause:
I suspect this may be related to the initialization or synchronization of Microsoft Pinyin IME state when Everything reopens its search window.
Since toggling the input mode using Shift immediately resolves the issue, and number input subsequently works correctly in both Chinese and English modes, it seems more likely to be an IME state handling issue than a character encoding problem.
The different behavior of Left Shift and Right Shift may also provide a useful clue.
I've attached two screenshots showing normal and incorrect input behavior.
Could you please investigate this issue?
Thank you!

Thank you for the issue report wxdjs,
I'm looking into the issue...
In the meantime, could you please check if disabling any of the following options help:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> control_shift_action=None
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> change_search_rtl_reading_action=None
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> ime_end_composition_search_delay=0

Re: Incorrect Number Input After Reopening Everything with Microsoft Pinyin IME (1.4 / 1.5)
Unfortunately, the issue still occurs occasionally, even after changing all three settings as suggested.
I haven't been able to identify the exact conditions that trigger it, as it seems to happen intermittently.
However, one thing remains consistent: whenever the issue occurs, pressing the Right Shift key immediately restores normal number input.
I will continue testing and try to find a reliable way to reproduce the issue.

Re: Incorrect Number Input After Reopening Everything with Microsoft Pinyin IME (1.4 / 1.5)
I'm unable to reproduce the issue my end.
To me, this looks like an issue with Everything seeing the Right shift key down when it is not.
What version of Windows are you using?
How are you re-opening Everything after closing Everything?
Please try disabling the search close button:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> search_close_button=false
Please try disabling hide on close:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> hide_on_close=false
Could you please send a debug log:
I see the same pinyin mode as when Everything was closed and the expected input.Type some Chinese characters and numbers. Everything still works correctly.
Close the Everything search window.
Reopen the search window.
Try typing numbers using the number keys.
