Feature Request: Enable the creation and viewing of multiple indices.

Post by adostrom »

I've searched the forums and I cannot find a request for this feature:

Feature: Enable the creation of multiple indices, each with it's own selection of disks/folders and exclusions. Then enable viewing a specific index, either from a File/Open menu or with a command line / shortcut option.

Use case: Example - I have a large desktop PC with a TrueNAS server in the basement with ~ 40TB of storage in in use. In addition to files currently in use I have copies of my laptops and other files from multiple jobs over the last 30 years. I have also been an avid photographer since I was a teenager; now, at 70, I have a little over 135,000 files in 2,100 folders. I'm adding to that quickly as I scan old photos and slides.

I would very much like to be able to use everything to index all the other files, but also be able to easily switch and search my previous files or just the photos.

Multiple Instances will do it.

And further (in Everything 1.5), you can also have Sessions.
