After a certain amount of time, network drives are no longer searched
I have a problem where everything gets lost after 2–3 months. My network drives are mounted perfectly, and I can always find everything. But after 2–3 months, it stops searching the network drives. I then have to delete everything completely—including the databases—and reinstall the program. Then it works again for a while. What could be causing this problem?

Re: After a certain amount of time, network drives are no longer searched
Are you running Everything "as Administrator" - or at times that way?
(Admin, by default, will not see the same mapped drives as mapped by a regular user.)
How did you add the network drives?
Via Indexes | Network Drives, or otherwise (Folder)?
Are you using the Automatically Include/Remove settings?

Re: After a certain amount of time, network drives are no longer searched
What version of Everything are you using? (Help -> About Everything -> Version)
In Everything 1.4, a rescan can sometimes fail and Everything will see the network drive as empty.
Performing a manual rescan should fix the issue from Tools -> Options -> Folders -> Select your network drive and click Rescan Now.
Please try Everything 1.5.
Everything 1.5 has improved handling of failed rescans.

Re: After a certain amount of time, network drives are no longer searched
So I add the network drives via Tools - Options - Indexes - Network Drives, and I also add them under Folders.
I usually run it normally, but if it doesn’t work again, I try running it as an administrator and also do a rescan. But nothing helps.
Is it better to always run as an admin?
Are you using the Automatically Include/Remove settings? No
This time, I installed version 1.5.0.1423b (x64). When it works, it’s a fantastic program.

Re: After a certain amount of time, network drives are no longer searched
Avoid running Everything as administrator.
Everything will be unable to index your network drives when running as administrator.
Is it a network drive index or folder index that goes missing?
-Please try indexing as folder only. (Tools -> Options -> Folders and remove any network drives under Tools -> Options -> Network drives)
If you see the issue again, please capture a debug log:

- Wait for Everything to finish rescanning.

ah ok, thanks for the admin tip. I’ll keep an eye on it for now and then write a report. Thank you
