I am installing Everything in a server which D: has 18T size and 15T space has been used. When Everything starts scan D:, there is no printing info in console, the memory increases very slow (50 -100M per minute), it is quite different from my previous experience in other servers with very large disk size.
i am using 1.5.0.1391a

Re: Disk scan is slow and no printing info in console
More scanning information is shown in verbose mode (Tools -> Debug -> Verbose)
Sounds like Everything is scanning, but just taking a really long time.
Does the scan eventually complete?
Is the Everything Service still running? (Tools -> Options -> Everything Service should be [✓] checked)

Re: Disk scan is slow and no printing info in console
yes i can see more info after select Tools -> Debug -> Verbose
but from the console, it seems Everything is just updating the status bar, no scan activities.
I just enable Everything Service, it was not checked.

Re: Disk scan is slow and no printing info in console
Look for lines starting with:
mapping pair cluster offset: <offset>, cluster count: <count>, record count: <record-count> run: <remaining records>
It might take a minute or two for one to show..
<remaining records> will get smaller and smaller.
The scan will complete once it hits 0.
Writing to this disk while a scan is in progress will make it rather slow.
The Everything Service is most likely not required for your D: drive and can be left unchecked.

Re: Disk scan is slow and no printing info in console
So looks like about 86 million records (~86GB) to go, it will take a while.
To close the debug console:
To close the debug console:
- In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, uncheck Console.
Re: Disk scan is slow and no printing info in console
thanks, i will wait and see the progress.
Re: Disk scan is slow and no printing info in console
update, the issue was caused by heavy copy task to D: from other servers, hard disk was occupied by the write task and couldn't response scan task.
Once i stopped copy task, Everything starts eating memory very crazily, that makes sense.
Thank you for your prompt and patient support!
