More visible search qualifiers

Post by eugenesv »

Currently search modifiers (case/word/path etc) are in the statusbar away from your focus when typing (which is the search input field).
But usually (at least for me) the search input field is mostly empty and has enough space for all these modifiers.
So instead of words in a far away corner I'd suggest to add search conditions to the right end of the search input field (near the "Clear" cross, though I'd even replace that since that's the one I never use), but make them short 1-symbol text/icons, which would also be easier to differentiate vs. simply text

For example,

ω Word
◌̈ Diacritics
\ Path
🗚 case
¬ prefix

And they'll be only shown when they're active (or inactive, depending on what the user wants to highlight, maybe if word-based is always on, you'd only want to be 'notified' with a visible symbol when it's off)

(think it might be easier to just let the user decide, which symbol to show in each of the active/inactive case as there are likely enough unicode symbols to choose from instead of having to add icons)

Thanks, indeed, something like this, though for simplicity I'd be fine if you can't toggle anything there, I just need the info in a more compact/visible format.

The switches can all be toggled.
