Finding similar movies

Post by Aghajoon »

Hi
first, Everything is awesome. Thanks to anyone who has anything to do with creating this useful software

I have lots of downloaded movies and I want to find the best version (highest quality) and delete the other one
the problem is they don't have exactly same names
like this:
Mission Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2025) [2160p] [4K] [WEB] [5.1] [YTS.MX]
and
Mission Impossible꞉ The Final Reckoning (2025) (1080p AMZN WEB-DL x265 Ghost)

how I can find these duplicate movies all at once? I mean I can't search each title for a duplication

Thank you for your feedback.

Finding similar movies is not possible with Everything 1.4.

With Everything 1.5, you might be able to find duplicates depending on how well your files are named.

In Everything 1.5, please try the following search:

regex:^(.*\(\d{4}\)) dupe:1

regex: == enable regular expressions
^ == match start of the filename.
( ... ) == capture match into regmatch1
.* == match the movie title
\(\d{4}\) == match the (year)
dupe:1 == show duplicated regmatch1 values. ( title + (year) )

worked great
Thank you so much

I'm not sure if I should make another topic for this
how to limit that search in 2-3 specific folders?
like D:\movies and E:\movies

Include the paths in your search:

D:\movies\ | E:\movies\ regex:^(.*\(\d{4}\)) dupe:1

| = OR

Void, I do whatever you tell me, although I don't have that many movie files.
Audio files I've got a lot of, and to my delight your suggestion has worked wonders for me too (I'm not really surprised; I'm getting used to Everything being more versatile than I had imagined).

Of course your regex shows little sign of "AVI" or "MP4" and so on, and of course no sign of "MP3", so once again, CONGRATULATIONS on your design, imagination, foresight, ...
Cheers, Chris
