I created a Powershell / PWSH Wrapper for SDK3 ...

Post by noldi »

Hey Everyone :D

I've created a PowerShell wrapper. (general-purpose workarounds with es.exe are no longer necessary.)

https://github.com/gitnol/PowerEverything3

Tested it with:
- PowerShell 7.5.2
- Everything 1.5.0.1396a-x64
- SDK Version 3.0.0.4

Perhaps someone needs this. Feel free to clone and modify.
Thanks to voidtools for these awesome products. Saved me so much lifetime.. Thanks again!

What's new – PowerEverything3 0.1.0

Everything SDK 3.0.0.9
  • Updated Everything3_x64.dll to SDK 3.0.0.9 (more robust connection when Everything is busy, SDK crash fixes)
  • Tested with Everything 1.5.0.1423b and PowerShell 7.5/7.6
Fixes
  • Text properties (Name, Path, Extension, Type) now return the full text instead of only the first character
  • -Properties Name and -SortBy @{Property='Name'} now work (were silently ignored)
  • Index, count and size values are passed to the SDK as proper 64-bit values (SIZE_T)
  • Size is $null instead of 18446744073709551615 when unknown (e.g. folders)
New
  • -MaxResults 0 returns all results
  • -Offset for paging through large result sets
  • -CheckExists optionally verifies that each result still exists
  • About 12× faster: 5,000 results in 0.5 s instead of 6.3 s
  • Loading the module no longer writes to the console (messages via -Verbose)
Practical example: Examples/Find-ArchivesWithExtractedFolder.ps1
  • Finds archives (zip, 7z, rar, iso, tar.gz …) left next to their extracted folder
  • Scans a whole file server in seconds (-AllShares); falls back to a file-system scan without Everything
  • Resolves owners via AD (no RSAT needed), writes a CSV and optionally mails the owners with \\server\share links
  • Never deletes anything
Please note
  • Exists is only filled with -CheckExists, otherwise $null
  • Requires PowerShell 7.0+ (Windows PowerShell 5.1 was never supported; the README previously said otherwise)
