Currently the mouse wheel scrolls the results up/down or zooms etc
It would be handy if mouse-wheeling over a column title enlarged or shrunk it, as this would be a lot easier than specifically grabbing the column edge and dragging it.
Perhaps an option whether to do this or not, but as it's only a small specific location probably an option not needed.
I think the same could be done when wheeling over the folder bar title or previewer title, it would widen or shrink the pane width.

I will consider a mousewheel action to resize columns and sidebars.
Maybe a default combination of Shift + Middle mouse button + mouse move.

There are certainly other variations that could be considered. I think the main thing is to avoid having to finely target the title control edge with the mouse, which is a pain because it's such a common action to resize things.
One of the merits of a simple mouse-wheel is that it's mouse only.
But I can see the logic in something like Alt-Mousewheel because then actually you'd not even need to be over the heading, you could do it anywhere on the column and the modified mousewheel would resize that column.
Or you could have Alt-Drag the column heading left or right to resize it, in that case you'd need to be on the heading, but a different modifier drag perhaps you could be anywhere on the column.
One thing I would love to see at some time is a modified-mousewheel that scales not of the entire GUI but just the pane or main feature you are over, since invariably when you scale the results, or the folders, you don't want everything else changing size as currently happens; so ideally these two ideas could co-exist.
Perhaps there could be some option "Column Mouse-Resize" where a user can choose a method - or option set, one the action (modifier, mouse or drag), another the target (1 heading 2 whole column), with one or two entries at first, then more added at leisure as needs arise.
