Using Everything for the first time, using 1.5 for tags, great experience so far

I hit an infuriating dead end with Windows Search, where it would start indexing from scratch every hour or so and only index 63K of the 68K files it should have been indexing; I could manually get it to index the missing files by using

copy *+

on the directory (which basically 'touches' every file), but then when it indexed from scratch again, it would say "indexing x out of 63K"-- it was remembering the number of files it had indexed originally. I tried everything a 22+ year Microsoft developer/pm could think of, and could never discover the reason.

I installed the Everything 1.5 Alpha, and I just wanted to say that so far, I'm really pleased. I think the UI is unintuitive in some places, and the lack of documentation is somewhat disconcerting-- google searches that return forum posts that are 4 years ago and many versions out of date are anti-useful. However, I was able to figure out everything I wanted it to do without too much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and so far, it works very well and does exactly what I need it to do. I'm using Windows Search for text files that I want the content indexed for, and it appears to be indexing all of them; but I'm using Everything for videos, audio files, and pictures, most of which I have multiple tags for, and it's performing like a champ.

I may provide feedback after I've been using it for a while, and of course I'll report any bugs I run into, but I wanted to relate my positive experience before it slipped my mind. Oh, and of course I'll be donating.

Everything 1.5 is still evolving.
