If I have Everything (Everything-1.5.0.1391a.x64) open on my main display, I can easily drag and drop an image file from Everything into a browser window on the same display in the "Search for Image" field of the browser.
But when my browser window is on the external display, I can't drag and drop, it shows crossed red circle.
- when dropping here, it just opens image in the browser.
- now when actually trying to get the website to receive the dropped image, it shows crossed red circle.
Also, it works without an issue when dragging and droping from Windows File explorer to main and external display.
Also, I just used DDU to remove Intel and Nvidia GPU drivers, then installed them from scratch again. Nothing changed. The problem seems to be with Everything. I'm using Win11 24h2.
Drag & Drop doesn't work when moving files onto external display
Re: Drag & Drop doesn't work when moving files onto external display
Very likely this is caused by Win11 24H2 update KB5050094 (an update preview). Unstall it, reboot and try again.
Not convinced? Search the internet for "drag drop KB5050094"

Can't find it in update settings as installed. I also did a clean install on 01/25.NotNull wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:50 am Very likely this is caused by Win11 24H2 update KB5050094 (an update preview). Unstall it, reboot and try again.

Also option to uninstall is only for KB5050577 and KB5051987.
EDIT:
I just uninstalled KB5051987, since it also had a relation with drag/drop issues I saw (he even mentions the red circle), but this problem still persists.
EDIT:
Now that I uninstalled KB5051987, it shows now that KB5050094 is uninstallable. Will try removing that.
EDIT3:
Couldn't uninstall it..

FYI: KB5050094 is the preview version, succeeded by the "final" version KB5051987
