everything causing hdd lock-up ?

Does everything lock up a drive when rebuilding external hdd index ?

like if i have a vm running from the E drive for example and i rebuild index the vm freezes and 'locks up' with no response, as soon as i end task everything in task manager then it starts working properly

Maybe you're running in a loop (because of the VM)?

Are you running a non-VM Everything from within the VM?
(As opposed to running a "VM" instance of Everything from within the VM.)

No, I have other files in E:\ that I was sorting through. The E drive is just an external hdd. When I was rebuilding the entire E drive index from host windows 10, vmware which has ubuntu 23.10 vm stored in E drive completely froze up. Everything froze too, so I ended everything from task manager and then the vm started to function back to normal
