How to find duplicates based on Filelist: ignoring extensions

Post by eswul62 »

Finding duplicates using
filelist: (edit/paste filenames)
will search for duplicates including extensions.

I'd like to find files with same file name, but different extension.
(for instance, converted files from .xls(x), png, or html > pdf)

I believe pasting file names without extension doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Try
stemfilelist1:

Right-click stemfilelist1: in the search box and click Edit file list slot....
Paste your files or filenames.
Click OK.

stemfilelist1:

stem = name without extension.

If you have a list of files, and you want to find duplicated stem results, include the following in your search:
dupe:stem

Ah.. right.

THANK you so much!

Was unaware of that option.
Saves me a lot of time.

Thanks again.
