Everything 1.5.0.1423b (x64) – real-time index not updating

Post by mahziyarazz »

I've noticed that Everything 1.5.0.1423b sometimes fails to update its index in real time.

For example, I deleted a file from Everything it self, but the file still appeared in Everything's search results. When I tried to delete it from Everything, I got:

Unable to delete
Error 2: The file was not found or the filename is invalid or too long.

Refreshing the index manually fixes it, but the real-time update seems to occasionally stop working (just often! not always).

Has anyone else experienced this in 1.5.0.1423b?Image

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (from the File menu, click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.

Everything does not track deleted hard links.
It's possible this file was a hard link.

For others, to force a rebuild:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.
