Saving and restoring the folder sidebar selection is on my TODO list.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Everything 1.5.0.1384a improves sessions.

The following states are now saved to your session:
  • Secondary sort.
  • Secondary sort folders first.
  • Tertiary sort.
  • Filelist slots 0-9.
  • Result list item focus.
  • Result list selection.
  • Folder sidebar item focus.
  • Folder sidebar selection.
  • Folder sidebar expanded items.
  • Bookmarks sidebar expanded items.

Fixed an issue with using a slow sort when restoring a session and changing the search.

The window z order is now restored.

Disabling Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> session_store will now also delete your sessions from disk.
Disabling Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> session_store will now also disable History -> Recently Closed Tabs.
Disabling Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> session_store will now also disable History -> Recently Closed Windows.
Clearing your Search history under Tools -> Options -> History will also delete your sessions from disk.

Hadn't seen that, till now, & while I can understand the thinking,
I've also got to think, hmm...

While one has to specifically change the setting, & one then hits, Apply,
I can see one saying, "damn, what did I just do" ;-).

I don't quite understand what sessions are about. Anyone care to explain? I moved from 1.4 to 1.5 and don't see a change that could be related to sessions other than the presence of session files on my drive.
Under "General | Home" I have Search sett to "use last value", and that was working in 1.4 already. so I assume sessions are something different altogether, but I can't figure out what it is.

Sessions is like Home -> Search = (Use last value)
But it does more than just remember the last search.
Sessions also remember the focused result and the selection.
Sessions also remember all your tabs and much more.

To restore a previous session:
In Everything, from the History menu, click Restore previous session.

Generally, you would do this after exiting Everything (File -> Exit) or shutting down your PC.

edit: added what is remembered in the OP.

Wow, thanks a lot, that's super helpful. And I must say I' m a little bit ashamed that despite reading the 1.5 changelog, I completely missed the Tabs feature! Thanks again!
