20 second delay when right clicking

Post by void »

Malwarebytes Real-Time Protection will block Everything for 20 seconds when showing the right-click context menu.

Please add Everything.exe to your Malwarebytes whitelist.

-or-

Disable the Malwarebytes context menu shell extension with ShellExView from NirSoft.

-or-

Disable context menu shell extensions in Everything: (basic context menu is shown instead)

Everything 1.4:
  • Copy and paste the following into your Everything search box:
    /context_menu_shell_extensions=0
  • Press ENTER in your Everything search box.
  • If successful, context_menu_shell_extensions=0 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.
Everything 1.5:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    context
  • Select: context_menu_shell_extensions
  • Set the value to: false
  • Click OK.

I'll suppose you tested where this is an instance that renaming the Everything.exe to somethingelse.exe does not alleviate the situation?

I'll suppose this is an issue with (caused by) MBAM itself? (And are they aware of it?)

(Heh, & I missing the first "fix", whitelist.)

I have not tested.

Yes, this is an issue with the Malwarebytes context menu shell extension causing a 20 second delay in the system call IContextMenu3::QueryContextMenu.

(And are they aware of it?)
I do not know.
I haven't reported the issue to Malwarebytes.
