Moved from Everything is not exiting when I close it.

To make Everything exit when all windows are closed:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the UI tab on the left.
  • Uncheck Run in background.
  • Click OK.

I don't see any reason to close Everything when the last instance is closed.
Without running in background there will be no index updates.
On the next start of Everything the index will be updated which may take some time.

Curious why you'd want to not run EBV in the background?

Or with enough changes it will have to rebuild.
Though if the device has few enough files, like 1 million files, it may only take a few minutes to get back up and running.
