Selected item jumps to top of the list

When double-click a search result, it jumps to the top of the list. Is it possible to prevent that? I'm sure it didn't do that once upon a time.

What version of Everything are you using? Help -> About Everything.

Opening the file is modifying the item? Please try sorting by Name in Everything (click the Name column).
Please check the software opening the file, it shouldn't be modifying the file on open.
