Search in autorun folder

Post by E.T. (elapsed time) »

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if it's possible for Everything to also search the startup folder. I've manually added a file to that folder, but it doesn't appear in search results even though “C:" is indexed. Why?

Everything should check the startup folders too.

1. Some search options might be set that filter those files
- Go to Menu => Search
- Make sure all options in the search menu are unchecked, except for the Everything filter
(alternative: check the statusbar and doubvle-click all entries next to the size)

2. Exclude hidden files and folders is enabled
(the appdata folder is hidden)
- Go to Menu => Tools => Options => Indexes => Exclude
- Uncheck Exclude hidden files and folders
(also check if the folder itself is excluded)
- OK

3. The startup folder might be stored elsewhere
(Actually: there are 2 startup folders: one per-machine and one per-user)
- Enter the following search and check the fodler paths:
[shell:startup|shell:"common startup"
- Does this show any results?

PS: What Everything version? What Windows version?

Thank you so much for your reply.
I’m very sorry, the solution was at point 1 of your check advise: the filter in the “search” menu was enabled on a type and I didn’t think on that.

Thanks again
