As the thread title suggests, how about making the notification tray icon more consistent with the default Windows 7/8 style (a little more white like those default icons?), so that Everything fits in the tray more natural.
I hate homogenized.
I would much rather everything (err, & Everything too) stand-out, for what it is, to be different from anything else, to make easily detectible when I'm looking for it.
Anyhow, you can change the icon used.
Just place an (icon) file named 'Everything.ico' into the same directory as Everything.exe.
(Might require an Everything restart?)

I believe in choices. It's nice that a simple ico file could work this out.
I made myself an icon. Thank you for your help. Much appreciated.
Thanks for all your efforts. Dealing with the desires of different folks can often be arduous and far harder than coding.
I run Everything (709b) from a folder (not appdata) and notice that the additional icon I use shows as expected in the System Tray but the original (orange loupe on white sheet) shows on System Bar. Is there anyway for those to reconcile to show the additional icon? Thanks.
