Everything Rescans large Webdav folders on host restart

Post by davken »

We use webdav to map sharepoint drives to some of our devices, but on one of the users computers, it tries to rescan everytime the device restarts or if 'Everything' is restarted. Also sometimes it will get stuck and post the "Open Pipe failed 2" error while trying to update the database. Reinstalling has already been tried with no luck, and using an older version that for sure worked didn't work either.

Any ideas?

Everything will be unable to save your index to disk if Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything is disabled and Everything is installed to C:\Program Files\Everything

"Open Pipe failed 2" will occur if the Everything Service is stopped.

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (from the File menu, click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.
Does the issue persist?
