How can I make appear Plugins line

Post by Didu69 »

Hello,

I've tried unsuccessfully to find an answer to my problem in the forums, but it's difficult to find answers in a foreign language. Even though I'm familiar with English, the information is more technical and complex.

My problem is simple: I want to scan network drives, and I've downloaded the server plugin in both executable and DLL formats. I've created a "plugins" folder under Program Files, tried to follow the installation procedure which is very well described in "Tools," and selected my network folders in "Folders."
Nothing works; the "plugins" option remains invisible in the left-hand side of the configuration menu.
How can I make it appear?

Thank you in advance.

Depending on what you're looking to do, you don't need "server plugin" per se.

You can add a Mapped network drive (in Everything 1.4 / 1.5) if that works for you.
Options | Indexes | Network Drives

A mapped network drive should just turn up, & all you should need to do is to enable,
Include in database
.

So if you have a NAS, & its UNC path is \\DIDU\C, you have that mapped (say) as a drive D:,
you should see something like C(\\DIDU) (D:) under Network Drives, for you to Include.

(If you actually need "server"... I'm not really familiar with that.)

I want to scan network drives
To add your network drive to your Everything index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab on the left.
  • Click Add....
  • Select your network drive (For example: J: drive or server share: \\server\share ) and click OK.
  • Click OK.
