Can't find existing word in a content search

Post by abr01 »

When searching for certain names or words in ebooks, in the epub format, the search term isn't found, although epub is included in the documents type list. Is this may a special case, or would re-indexing help? Not a big deal, since i rarely intend to search inside that format, but maybe there is some way to achieve it.

epub files are basically zip-files. They can't be read as plain text. To (pre)view the contents or to search for text, special applications are needed.
For searching, an epub iFilter handler is needed; for previewing an epub preview handler.

As you can't find text in epubs, I have to assume you don't have an epub iFilter handler installed.

I found one here (no personal experience), but there might be others out there. Search for epub iFilter handler.

Install it and Everything should be able to search through these epub files.
