Everything "Querying..." forever now

Everything used to be immediate on this laptop, but for a while now it's been unusable. When I enter a search, "Querying..." appears but never seems to leave, and no results appear. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling (v1.4.1.1030) yesterday and right after re-indexing searches were immediate again. Today, back to the original problem

Windows 11, 16 GB RAM, Intel Core i7 @ 1.8 GHz

Everything getting paged to disk could cause this.

How much RAM is Everything using? how much is free?



Anything using 100% CPU usage?

I just fired up Everything to take a look. It's using 80 MB; nothing's using 100%, basically Notepad and Media Player so all the use must be background? 9.2 GB total in use, with 6.4 GB available.

FWIW I just tried clearing the Search and Run histories, and it seemed to hang with an infinite spinner each time.

Maybe something is spamming your file system with changes..

Please try capturing a debug log:

• Launch Everything and quickly:
• Copy and paste the following into your Everything search box:
  
  /debug_log
• Press ENTER in your Everything search box.
• Does Everything hang immediately?
• Please try a regular search in Everything.
• Wait for Everything to hang.
• Let Everything sit for 1 minute.
• Close Everything.
• Please upload your %TEMP%\Everything Debug Log.txt in a bug report.

I got /debug_log in there fast, saw "Creating database..." in the footer, then "Scanning" forever. No spinner or anything, and the UI is responsive.

crashing.



Please check your drive for errors:
* Please backup anything important on your drive before checking it for
errors.
* In Windows Explorer, right click your C: drive and click Properties.
* Click the Tools tab.
* Click Check now...
* Click Start
* If prompted to schedule a scan on the next restart, click Yes.
