Post by JHowski »

Hi Everyone,

Just like to announce an extension for thunderbird and Voidtools search everything working together.

Name of extension: "search in everything"

https://addons.thunderbird.net/En-uS/th ... verything/

How to Use
Basic instructions, highlight text in a message email, 'right click' pick menu item 'search in everything'
opens search everything and search for the highlighted term.

How to Install
Method 1: The Easy Way (via Thunderbird Add-ons)

Open Thunderbird.

Click the menu button (≡) and select Add-ons and Themes.

In the search bar at the top, type: Search in Everything

Click the + Add to Thunderbird button next to the extension.

Confirm the permissions by clicking Add.

Method 2: Install from File (for manual installation)

Download the .xpi file.

Open Thunderbird and go to Add-ons and Themes.

Click the Gear icon ⚙️ (next to the search box).

Select Install Add-on From File...

Browse to where you saved the .xpi file and select it.

Click Add when prompted.

Don't forget to include the Warning in your post:

⚠️ IMPORTANT: You must enable the URL Protocol in your Voidtools Everything settings (Tools > Options > General > [x] URL Protocol) for this extension to work.

So you're (an extension is) allowed to add context-menu items in TB?

(I don't think that holds true for FF, though in the case of a search engine, like Start Page, it does seem to be so?
Ah, I see NoScript & uBlock Origin [Block Element] are there too.

If that's the case, then maybe you could expand your extension to work not only in TB, but in FF too?

And I'll also note, that you can do similar with a bookmarklet, or alternatively, slightly differently, use Everything 1.5a's #clipboard: function [which requires your search to be, #clipboard:])
