Suddenly, whenever I do a search in Everything, if I am provided with a folder name containing the search characters, attempts to open it results in the error message, "Windows cannot find xxx. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again". Also, if there are files inside the folder with the same name, they are not displayed, as if Everything is unable to look inside them.
For example, if I have a folder in my downloads directory named "George", and inside are various pictures named George1, George2, etc. the search results will list the George folder but not the pictures inside.
However, if the search results in an actual file, say, ScanPST.exe, I can run or open the file from the search results window.
One last thing of note, which I don't remember noticing before. In the case of the Downloads folder, Everything lists it as simply 'Downloads'. My download directory isn't on the C: drive, it's located at D:\username\Downloads. I was thinking it always showed the full path before, but I maye wrong about that.
I have six NTFS volumes (internal hard drives or partitions) and two very large NAS Folders with ~200,000 files, and everything was working beautifully until this evening. Is it possible that my index is damaged and needs to be rebuilt? And how would I do that? Or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely?
'Windows cannot find' any folder I try to access
Re: 'Windows cannot find' any folder I try to access
Well, I'm not sure what happened, but uninstalling Everything, deleting the associated directory and reinstalling resolved the issue completely.

Most likely a corrupt database.
You can force a rebuild from Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> Force Rebuild.
