Post by manja0308 »

Running everything 1.5a x64 (without administrator privileges) in Windows 10 64bit environment.
However, when running multiple windows (single instance), you cannot drag and move files from the first window to the second window.

1. It is certain that it was run without giving any administrator privileges, and it is also certain that it was run in a single instance, even though it is a multi-window.
2. I have edited and saved 'allow_window_message_filter_dragdrop=1' and 'allow_drag_drop=1' in the everything-1.5a.ini file, but I cannot drag and move the file from the first window to the second window.
3. I tried everything 1.4.1.1030 x64 but I couldn't move the file by dragging it from the first window to the second window.
Multiple windows in Explorer.exe can be moved by dragging a file to the second window.
It's hard to move files by cutting and pasting files because I'm organizing hundreds of files right now.

What could be the problem?

Where are you trying to move the files to?

There's no active folder in Everything.

Please try right-click-dragging from one window and dropping over the path column in another window.
Everything will present you with options to move/copy.

If you want to allow left-click-drag dropping to the path column:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    ldrop
  • Select: allow_path_ldrop
  • Set the value to: true
  • Click OK.
Just be aware of accidental moves.
Accidental moves can be undone from View -> Undo.

I'm sorry.
It's because I didn't put in the entire screenshot.
You have attempted to transfer TestFile.txt from "C:\Test Folder" to "C:\Test Folder2".
And as you said, I changed the tool → option → advanced → allow_path_ldrop to true
Failed to move files to drag and drop.

Are you dragging directly over the c:\Test Folder2 row in the results?
-what about directory over the c:\Test Folder2 text? -does it work then?

Does dragging from Windows Explorer to Everything work?

Could you please show a full screenshot of the second window.

If you type "C:\Test Folder" in the first window, you'll get TestFile.txt,
If you type "C:\Test Folder2" in the second window, you will see an empty screen
You have attempted to move TestFile.txt to Drag and Drop.
And I tried dragging and dropping with everything 1.5a in Windows Explorer
The file could not be moved to the Everything 1.5a window.

Everything doesn't work like that.
There's no active folder in Everything.

You need to drop on a folder item or right-click-drag-drop to the path column of a file.

Searching for
"C:\Test Folder2"
should show your C:\Test Folder2 folder.
Does this folder exist?

Oh, then I'm not supposed to drag and drop in the window where I entered the folder path.
I'll give it a try.

Thank you for your answer.
Have a nice day.
