Temporary search in non-indexed folders

Post by Davide78 »

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to search a non-indexed folder.
Let me explain better: searches are performed on the folders indicated in the folder index preferences.
It may happen that you need to search only in folders not indicated in that list. In this case, how do you do it?
Do I have to include them in the list or can I force the search where needed by entering some formula in the search bar?
Thanks in advance

Currently not possible.

Everything will only search what is in your index.

I have on my TODO list to show an info bar with the option to temporarily add the missing folder to your index.

For example, if I search for \\server\share and this folder is currently not indexed, an info bar will appear under the Search showing:
\\server\share is not indexed, would you like to temporarily add \\server\share to your index? [Yes]/[No]

For now, you'll need to add your folders to your index under Tools -> Options -> Folders.

Thanks for noting my request!
How you describe the solution you came up with would be perfect!
I hope this feature can be useful to others too!
Best regards!

Maybe Index This can help you in the meantime.

Everything 1.5 has a Result Omission feature that can help too.
(files are indexed but not visible, until requested)
