Unable to add NAS drives

Post by Gigante »

Trying to upgrade from Locate32 to Everything but quickly ran into an issue.

I can't seem to get Everything to index my NAS'es.

I get the message "The folder \\aurelius can't be used. Please choose another folder."

You mean I need to add every single network folder to that list? I have 2600+ folders (or shares) on \\aurelius alone (and counting)....

And every time I'm adding a new folder (almost daily) I need to update Everything?

It's just not feasible for me.

This worked without a hitch in Locate32 and I was really hoping for a smooth switch over to Everything... and I'm just a bit disillusioned running into an issue one minute after installation. Perhaps there's a way to do this that I don't know yet, or perhaps there's an easy fix to solve my problem. I'm hoping for that.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Everything used the WizTree technique of reading the MFT on NTFS drives instead of scanning them like Locate32, but alas, my local drives are not the problem anyway, I really need to index my NAS'es....

Everything 1.4 doesn't have support for indexing just \\server

Everything 1.5 will have support for indexing just \\server
