Version 1.5.0.1397a (x64)
Options > General > Start menu shortcut does not recognize "Everything" or "Everything 1.5" as shortcut. Can an advanced option be added to customize the shortcut name?
Start menu shortcut name other than "Everything 1.5a"
Re: Start menu shortcut name other than "Everything 1.5a"
I realized that this won't be an issue after the official release of 1.5, so maybe this is not a problem
Re: Start menu shortcut name other than "Everything 1.5a"
(You can always change a Start menu items; name, target... as you want.
Well, on a real OS you can. Can't say if that holds true on Win10/11?)

Re: Start menu shortcut name other than "Everything 1.5a"
I can change the shortcut name of any shortcut
regardless where it's pointing to.

I did change the name of the shortcut but then the "General > Start menu shortcut" becomes unchecked.horst.epp wrote: Mon Sep 08, 2025 4:02 pm I can change the shortcut name of any shortcut

Re: Start menu shortcut name other than "Everything 1.5a"
It's easy, see the screenshots.
Simply a rename of the name in the start menu

Re: Start menu shortcut name other than "Everything 1.5a"
In your case enduser, I recommend unchecking Tools -> Options -> General -> Show Start menu shortcut and manually creating your own shortcut.
If you leave "Show Start menu shortcut" enabled, the next time you install Everything the Everything 1.5 shortcut will be recreated.
Everything 1.5 will only be used for the alpha version so you have can have Everything 1.4 and Everything 1.5 installed at the same time.
Once in beta, Everything will use the "Everything" shortcut name in the start menu.
