Hello,
everything reports a new version 1.4.1.1028 (x64) and asks if you want to download it. I did that and installed the new (portable) version. However, the system shows that it's still version 1.4.11024 (x64) and asks if you want to download the new version.

Does look to be most recent on the download page, https://www.voidtools.com/downloads/.

You mean you unpacked Everything.exe from the .ZIP ("installed")?

What is "the system"?
What does (Everything) Help | About show?
What does (Everything) Help | Check For Updates... show?

Does it say what that new version is?
Extract Everything.exe from the .ZIP.
Copy Everything.exe into a new directory, say, C:\etemp\.
From a command line within C:\etemp\, run,.

Please try a search for Everything.exe and see if you have multiple installations
You might still have an x86 version installed?
-If so, please uninstall the x86 version and reinstall the x64 version.
Check the startup programs in Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + ESC -> Startup)
Check if there's one or more Everythings set to run on startup.
Check the startup locations.
To update Everything 1.4 with the portable version:

Re: new Version 1.4.11028 ist not a new version
Hello, that was it.
The old installation was still running in the background, and it kept starting. After uninstalling the old version, it works.
Thank you very much, and have a nice evening.
