I had a strange issue just now where the mouse wheel no longer scrolled the Everything panes (other programs did).
Exiting and relaunching Everything resolved it, but thought I would flag it up.

Did the sidebar have focus?
By default, Everything will only send the mousewheel to the focused control.
What is your Everything -> Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> mouse_wheel_routing value?
And what is your system setting under Start menu -> Mouse Settings -> Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them?

mouse_wheel_routing=(Use default)
Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them? = probably on, I happened to switch that off yesterday evening after this event for some reason (now back on) but I tested Everything by clicking in to its scrollable pane to give it focus.
For this event, nothing scrolled with the mousewheel in Everything, nothing else had frozen. I tested by clicking into panes that exceeded the height and so were scrollable.
It did work again by exiting and restarting Everything so it was more to give some data about such things happening. The initial reaction is confusion and you play around a bit and then I thought to exit and restart. Perhaps untechnical users could reboot the whole computer or revert to Explorer, finding it's working again on a later date.

If you run into the issue again, could you please send a verbose debug log:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, check Verbose.
- From the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, check Start Debug Logging.
- Use the mousewheel while the mouse cursor is over Everything.
- From the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, check Stop Debug Logging.
---this will open your %TEMP%\Everything Debug Log.txt in notepad - Please upload this file in a bug report.
