Slow startup on first query

I'll describe what i'm experiencing.

Everything loads up in the background with -startup flag.
I won't touch everything for good amount of time.
Then when I decide to bring up query window for the first time, it takes between 30 - 60 seconds to become responsive. While showing "Querying..." in the status bar.
But afterwards, every time I bring up a query window, it's instant.

Is there a setting somewhere to make what's happening during that first query window to have it performed in the background. So when I open my first query window, it will be instant.

I'm using the latest alpha.

Querying should be instant.
Sounds like Everything has been paged to disk.

How much RAM do you have? How much is free? and how much is Everything using?

Everything is using 315mb of ram.
I have 32gb of ram. 18.6gb free.

I'm using the latest alpha.

I don't think this is a RAM issue..
However, please check if locking memory in RAM helps:

• In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Advanced tab on the left.
• To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
  virtual
• Select: virtual_lock
• Set the value to: true
  
• To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
  working
• Select: min_working_set_size
• Set the value to: 1073741824
  
• Select: max_working_set_size
• Set the value to: 1073741824
• Click OK.

This will lock Everything into physical RAM.



There could be an issue with restoring the previous session..
Maybe Everything is restoring a slow sort? or slow query?
The next time Everything takes a while to load, wait for Everything to recover and please take note of the search query and sort.

Does the issue persist if you disable session_store_restore_on_first_new_window:

• In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Advanced tab on the left.
• To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
  session
• Select: session_store_restore_on_first_new_window
• Set the value to: false
• Click OK.

Same applies with closed_window_restore_on_first_new_window.

I think this is caused by your result omission list.

Do you have a large result omission list?

-Please try disabling the result omission list and see if the issue persists. (Index -> Uncheck enable result omissions)
-Please also temporarily disable home_omit_results under Tools -> Options -> Advanced.
The next alpha update will load and apply the result omission list on startup.

Yes I have quite a bit of regex: result omissions.

Turning off result omissions solved the problem. Appreciate your time helping me figure out the problem.

Can't wait for the next alpha version, solving this problem.
