Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
Is there an issue with build 1027 x64? I installed it two times and each time it reverts itself to version 1.4.1.1026
Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
Please make sure you are using the same x86/x64.
It's possible to install the x86 version and the x64 and they may conflict on startup.
If unsure, uninstall all versions of Everything and reinstall the x64 version.
Please backup your %APPDATA%\Everything folder before uninstalling.
The installer should close the existing instance.
After installing Everything, please check the version under Help -> About Everything
Do the same after a restart.
Please let me know if Everything is reverting after a restart.

Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
Thank you for the reply, Last thursday I saw that there was a new build 1028, I did as you said and uninstalled Everything, then I installed version 1028 x64. after installation in the about Everything tab it was showing version 1028 but when I turned ON my PC monday morning it showed version 1026 again and in the Windows App it shows version 1026 with july 7th as installation date.
Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
Where is Everything 1026 starting from? -What is shown in the Task Manager?
In the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + ESC), Click the Startup tab.
Right click the column header and check Command Line
What are the command lines for each Everything item?

Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
one command line is: "C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.exe" -svc
the second command line is: "C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.exe"
note that when I installed build 1028 I did a clean install, I uninstalled version 1026 and deleted the setting folder under my username and deleted every entries related to Everything in the Windows registry and I ran ccleaner-registry cleaner to remove remnants but still always show build 1026 after a reboot, if I don't reboot it is build 1028

Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
Do a search for, Everything.exe. (You can use Everything for that
.)
What turns up & where?
After Everything is "1028", what is its' size & date?
After Everything reverts to "1026", what is its' size & date?
How about MD5 hash for same?

Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
What is this "App"?and in the Windows App
Where did you download Everything from?
Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
(Windows App) where you go in settings when you want to unintall a program. I downloaded Everything from voidtools.com
Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
OK, so you've only got 1 "Everything.exe".
What is that "update_everything.cmd" in Startup ?
Post the contents of the .cmd file.
And how about the Everything.exe date/size/hash before & after reboot?

Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
thanks for replies and help. I don't know what's the cmd at startup since the check for update at startup is not even checked? I am wondering if it's the culprit? I will check the hash later I am a bit busy at work right now.
Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
that's what the script (cmd) says: (in French) it seems that there is this script that tell to install Everything 1026 at startup. I have no clue how it landed there, maybe my network administrator?
Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
No need for the hashes, you've found your issue.
Now, you need to figure out who, how & why.
(If you remove that .cmd from Startup, that should alleviate the issue, but you still need to figure out the above.)

Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
Well after removing the script I installed build 1028 and after a reboot it came back to 1026
This is the weirdest issue I have ever seen. I will ask the administrator if he has a script for Everything. I have no problem updating other programs though!
I am about to give up and keep using 1026 anyway it's been stable since I first inslalled it in 2024.
that`s what Everything finds now:

Re: Issue with Build 1.4.1.1027
well problem solved guys. I just asked the network admin and he told me he made a script for all PC on the network to push for build 1026 because previous versions of Everything had security vulnerability. He will change his script for build 1028
Thanks for the help. With your guidance I could find what was wrong.
