Tab Sessions

Post by null »

It would be nice to have the ability to save tab search sessions, in case of a reboot, or something to go back on.

I am aware of that. However, Everything does not persist sessions across reboots, nor does it allow users to manually create, save, name, or manage individual sessions. Similarly to Bookmarks for specific searches, users should be able to create and store a limited number of sessions, such as 5, or adjust the limit according to their specific use case. The saved sessions should also indicate which searches are in each tab. This functionality would be similar to a tab session manager for web browsers, where users can save the current session and reliably restore it days, weeks, months, or even years later.

The previous session can be restored from History -> Restore Previous Session.

To automatically restore your previous session:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    session
  • Select: session_store_restore_on_first_new_window
  • Set the value to: true
  • Click OK.
Sessions

To make a backup of your session: Copy your %APPDATA%\Everything\Session.json
/restore-session

I will consider the option to save/restore multiple sessions from within the UI.
Thank you for the suggestion.
