Hi,
I'm trying to include the whole network in my search results but I can't get it to work.
I'm using Everything-1.4.1.1027.x64 on a work PC where most of our files are on the network, not on the physical machine I'm using so I have to add the whole network to search through the files on the network.
I tried following many relevant suggestions but I didn't succeed in fixing the issue. For example, when I try to add the whole network as a Folder, I can see the Network under a PC but when selected all the buttons are greyed out and I cannot add it.
If it's relevant, if I open My PC the network appears like a media drive and when I double click on it, a music player opens up with a bunch of songs. Nobody ever opened a network straight like that probably but I guess it's worth mentioning. Everyone is just using shortcuts to specific folders on that very network.
I have limited accessibility and there is no IT I can ask anything about it so I registered an account here in hopes of adding the network as I love Everything on my private devices but haven't had much success on work computers.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel
Adding a network to the search
Re: Adding a network to the search
Everything 1.4 doesn't support indexing a whole network (\\server)
You will need to add each network share (\\server\share) manually:
You will need to add each network share (\\server\share) manually:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Folders tab on the left.
- Click Add....
- Select your \\server\share and click OK.
(repeat for additional shares) - Click OK.
Re: Adding a network to the search
I couldn't add a network from a drop down selection like I thought I could but I managed to add by manually typing the path.
Then "scanning" took a while but now everything seems to work fine.
Thanks.
