After updating my index has been rebuilt, but quickly as never before

Post by abr01 »

Normally rebuilding the index took a few hours. But with the new beta it was a matter of maybe two minutes. Has this been really improved that much? Or was it some kind of partial rebuild?

Everything should only index once.

If you add a volume, remove a volume or change what is indexed, Everything will perform a "quick re-index".
The quick re-index will use your existing indexes.

Please check the last rebuild reason under Tools -> Debug -> Statistics -> Build -> Last Rebuild Reason

Aha. That would then be "Out of date NTFS volume C: is available", but i have no idea what that means and if it was critical. Thanks!

It's not critical.

It just means the USN Journal was deleted and recreated.
-or-
Too many changes occurred while Everything wasn't running.

Void, you are starting to freak me out again (Grin!):-
Update
Count: 1,101,225
Total duration: 03:16
Minimum duration: 0.000000 seconds
Maximum duration: 1.279720 seconds
Average duration: 0.000178 seconds
Last duration: 0.000220 seconds
Last update date: 15/06/2025 2:17 AM

One million?
Three seconds??
...
And on top of that this (until today!) insignificant little window allows me to maXimize the pane so that my eyes/brain can work efficiently ...

Thanks.

One million?
This means 1 million updates (renamed file, new file, deleted file, modified file etc...) to your Everything index.

Three seconds??
Not 3 seconds.
03:16 is: 3 minutes and 16 seconds.
This is the amount of time Everything spent updating your index.
