Manually update the database?

Post by vsub »

I have a separate instance of everything that contains my external hdd which I don't often connect
The drive is added as just "Include in the daatabase" and all of the other options are disabled
When I make some change to the drive, can I run some kind of command that will make everything check for updates and update the database instead of using the option to rebuild the whole database

You can be disabling the drive on the NTFS list
and add it as Folder index with manual updates.

Please make sure you are monitoring changes to this volume.
From the Index menu, check Stop updating.

To make sure this settings persists between restarts:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    home
  • Select: home_update_indexes
  • Set the value to: (Use last value)
  • Click OK.
To manually update the database:
From the Index menu, check Update indexes.

Once updated, stop monitoring changes:
From the Index menu, check Stop updating.

If the drive is treated as on "offline drive", set it to NOT Automatically remove offline volumes.

And in any case, if you Enable, Include in database, & Monitor changes, & I'd think you should be good.
