Hello,
I’m relatively new to using Everything to manage my movie collection, and it’s been working great overall! However, I’m running into an issue with indexing properties when connecting external drives. I have several drives that I swap throughout the day, but every time I reconnect a drive (even if it’s within the same day), Everything starts re-indexing from scratch, which takes up to 45 minutes.
I’ve noticed that it only reindexes the properties every time, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to save the indexing properties so that I don’t have to wait every time I reconnect the drives.
I am using Everything Version: 1.5.0.1387a (x64)
I am Indexing Properties: Length & Title
Is there a setting that would allow Everything to remember the indexed properties between sessions, or is there a way to save the indexing data to the database?
Any guidance would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
JF
Help with Saving Indexed Properties
Re: Help with Saving Indexed Properties
BAsed on the observed behaviour,I am assuming these drives are NTFS formatted.
In that case:
- Go to Menu => Tools => Options => Indexes => NTFS
- In the right pane, disable Automatically remove offline volumes
If this setting is enabled, these disks will be removed from Everything's index. Including indexed properties.
The reindexing of the files and folders will be so quick, you probbly won't even notice
If this setting is disabled, these disks will be kept in Everything. Including indexed properties.
